What's a piece of software that you love?

I'm Nat Bennett – photographer, software nerd – and right now I'm really enjoying Descript. I'm using it to edit the video for a course about pair programming.

The extremely slick marketing copy is right: This software makes me want to edit. It makes me want to take on more video and audio projects, just to be able to play around with editing them more.

It's nice. Software isn't usually like this.

It's easy to get kind of down about software. There's a lot of bad, frustrating software out there, and a lot of bad things enabled by it. But when software is good– damn it is magical. Expansive of human capability. Reminds me why I got into this game in the first place.
